10-21-23 & 10-22-23 Crater of Diamonds is a giant field of hardened mud. It’s leftovers from an ancient volcanic upheaval. The diamonds found are generally VERY small. We did not find any, but had a great time mining for them. We got helped by folks that mine here as a hobby. Read more

These are all the animals we encountered while wandering around the park. We noticed the rattlesnake right after Martha nearly stepped on it. Luckily it appeared to be asleep. The pictures with Martha’ s foot in them are to show the bright red underwing of the numerous grasshoppers along the trails. Read more
